Superb Victorian burr walnut freestanding piano top pop up davenport having four working drawers and four dummy drawers with original turned walnut knobs. The piano top opens to reveal a pull out adjustable writing slide with original tooled leather writing surface, a fitted pen tray and two small drawers. When the right hand draw is pulled out it has a secret catch which activates the "pop up" mechanism of the davenport which has magnificent fretwork interior having various sections for stationary etc. The carved walnut shaped scroll supports are stunning and stand on a plinth base with turned bun feet. A wonderful piece of history that is still very useful today. In excellent condition with minor wear commensurate with age and use that will look outstanding in any study or office.
