Outstanding Victorian walnut writing slope with brass bound edges and engraved name plate to the top. Inside comprises of ebony lined compartments for ink and pens and tooled leather writing surface with gilded decoration. The writing slope lifts at the top and the bottom providing storage for paper, envelopes etc. these could also be used to house a laptop or tablet. The Victorians did love a hidden compartment and this box does have one that houses 3 small drawers and the mechanism to reveal these is still in working order. This is a great example of a Victorian writing slope of fabulous quality that is not only useful but highly decorative that will add a little piece of history to any desk.
